That's Amore

It's that time of year again. The one day of the year all of us single girls can moan about their legs which don't need to be shaved and their lack of morning wake up texts, it's valentines day. If you've been with me a little while and read last years post 'Valentines Day for One', you'll know my view of Valentines day is very much a selfish affair. For somebody who spends the majority of her life without another half, I've learnt to turn this holiday into a very selfish night of indulgence. Chocolate, check, take away of some sort, check, face mask, check. And this year, unlike last year, I am actually spending it in company. No no, not company of the male sort, I will be curled up in bed most likely watching a Disney film or one with a topless Jonny Depp/Leonardo DiCaprio in with all the rest of my single friends surrounding me. There's something to be said about valentines day, it definitely bands together a certain type of woman. Namely, the single type.

The time is 8pm on Valentines Day eve and yes, we could be out drowning our sorrows at the 'Traffic Light Party' held by the uni for other lonely hearts or I could be sat on my own, eating Ben and Jerry's from the tub, debating the illegal download of 50 Shades of Grey (not that I advocate that, of course). But to be quite honest, if I am going to be single on Valentines Day, there's no way I'd rather spend it than with face masks starting to dry, a Leonardo DiCaprio film at the opening sequence, empty take away boxes littering the floor from our feast and my best friends curled by my side.

I know it's stereotypical life of a single person to say being single on Valentines day isn't all that bad, but it really isn't. We may not have red roses at the door and a cooked candle lit dinner, but at least we can unbutton our jeans and let our food babies out in full glory after a long day of eating. And there's always the reduced chocolates tomorrow to keep us going for the rest of the month.

Whatever you're doing this Valentines Day I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Ciao for Now!
